Everyday use will make the shower screens dirtier, how ironic is that? The more you shower, the dirtier the shower screen becomes?

It’s such a shame because sparkly shower doors make the rest of your bathroom glow too. However, you can keep your glass shower screen looking brand new with these five easy tips!

Banish that build up!

The warm water will loosen up the grime (which with any luck won’t have set yet), and you won’t have to worry about getting messy or wet, so keep a sponge or foam cleansing pad in the shower so you can clean the doors as soon as you finish your shower.

Prevention means soap scum won’t have time to set and you won’t have to scrub as much later. When you finish your shower, clean the glass immediately. It may be annoying now but will save you in the long run!

Shower spray

Using a shower spray each day means you’ll limit the number of major cleans you’ll have to do. There are lots of natural sprays for shower screens that can be made with household products. Many of the home remedies and homemade spray recipes are available online or check out social media and follow some bloggers for their tips and tricks.

Lemon is a natural cleaner

Lemon is a natural cleaner. Cut one in half, dip into baking soda and rub on the glass door. Another great natural cleaning product is baking soda mixed with water or liquid soap until it reaches the consistency of frosting. Make sure you apply it to the doors with non-scratch material. Vinegar is also a great cleaning product but can corrode stone so be wary of using it if you have natural fixtures.

Get creative with your cleaning tools

Get creative and use an old toothbrush to clean the frame around the shower door when grime and soap scum do build up. It will allow you to get into all those crevices. By gently using a razor, you can scrape soap scum off the glass, and you can use the squeegee to get the grime from where the glass meets the shower frame.

Don’t use harsh cleaning products

To avoid permanent staining or streaking, avoid ammonia and alcohol-based cleaners. Make sure you never leave the product on the shower screen or other surfaces for longer than necessary or recommended as this may cause permanent marking. Even though sometimes soap scum and grime are very stubborn to remove, never use bristle brushes, abrasive scourers as this can result in permanent scratching!
